Bend the Earth, Performance/ Film, Lanzhou & Hanchuan, China, 2020
The two artists each jump on a bed placed on a mound of earth in our respective cities. I stood at the bottom of a mound in Lanzhou, holding a bowl of sand from a nearby construction site, while Jing stood at the top of another mound in Hanchuan. We jumped onto the beds beneath our bodies. I jumped as high as I could, trying to get off the ground, while Jing stomped hard on the mound beneath her feet, trying to flatten it. Jing stopped when her body slid down, while I stopped when I was buried by a sudden sandstorm.
This is a collaborated work of Hijack打劫, commissioned by HOP Projects.
