Bless Your Heart, Live Performance, Embassy Gallery, Edinburgh, Scotland, 2019
This project was inspired by the emerging techno-utopia scene and the status of women in China. In East Asia, large numbers of young girls were being trained to become a certain kind of beautiful machine to please millions of unknown men hidden behind screens, watching and consuming. This work continued our discussion of consumerism, cyborg, hybridization and female subjectivity, presenting a hybrid world based on the alienated spectacular world. The work was focused on alarming social phenomena among the young Chinese generation, such as the fantasy of massive capital shocks and the illusion of instant fame. This project was commissioned by EMBASSY Gallery, Edinburgh.
